US says seeks to reduce Russia’s influence in Venezuela

WASHINGTON, Apr 16 (PRIME) -- The U.S. will do everything possible to reduce Russia’s influence in Venezuela, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Cuba and Venezuela Carrie Filipetti told reporters late Wednesday.

The U.S. has already imposed sanctions against Rosneft Trading and, as they changed their position, will continue to impose sanctions against any Russian company that violates the will of the Venezuelan people, Filipetti said.

She also said that Russian oil companies will unlikely come to Venezuela.
